Biblical Criticism: How not to Loose Faith

This course will explore the Scritptures from a critical aspect while not loosing sight of its Divine origins.

Philology

This course will explore how the study of languages affects the understanding of a text.

Biblical Theology

Understanding the overall doctrines of the bible and how they are interrelated is paramount.

Historical Theology (Western, Eastern Orthodox and Ethiopian Orthodox)

There is more to historical Christianity than just the Western perspective. This course will cover ancient theological perspectives from the three main branches of the Church.

Theology in an African American Context

There is a distinct authentic theological perspective that has been developed out of the African American experience. This has been underappreciated by many who only see through a Western theological lens. This course will explore how this unique perspective has helped to guide the African American Church to thrive through the many difficult eras.

Balancing Pastoring and Para-church Responsibilities

This course will cover how to successfully balance pastoring and holding other key ministry positions outside of the church. It can be challenging to maintain momentum in a local church while being a bishop, overseer, moderator, director, etc. for other fellowships, conventions, networks, etc. This course will help address issues and establish fundamental guidelines that will help leaders from making their main ministries shipwreck.

Teaching Methodologies

Doctrine is only half of the equation, every minister must have successful methods for conveying the information.

Advanced Christian Leadership

This course will discuss the elements of successful leadership within the Church in this modern society.

African American Church and Social Justice

This course will cover the practical application of Christian theological principles and social justice in an African American context.

Doctoral Research and Writing

Teaching research techniques and methodologies in preparation for the student’s dissertation. Ongoing classes throughout the program.

The last six months will be devoted to the completion of the dissertation. (Upon acceptance of the subject)

The student will schedule a time for the defense of his/her dissertation.
